Training

Training is a very important part of our organization.  To be a good usher, you must be trained.  A few teaching techniques include knowing your church's program, being polite, courteous and alert. The primary factor of our training concept includes the Silent Uniform Method of Ushering. Members of our organization all learn one silent uniform method of ushering. Every usher who has been  trained is able to usher in the various churches together in a uniform manner. The George T. Grier School of Ushering is responsible for training the ushers in the National and on the State levels.  George T. Grier organized and wrote the Universal Church Usher's Manual and Instructor's Handbook which is used throughout the National.

A member who has been trained can assist ushers in another member state in ushering.  For example, an usher in the State of Virginia can assist ushers in the State of CA, Washington, DC or in the State of Georgia
