Henry Ballard Mass Chorus

From 1951 - 1959, Henry Ballard served as the fourth National President.  President Ballard hailed from the state of New York.  During his tenure, the organization grew spiritually and financially.

The music  department was first introduced to the convention in 1919.  In 1958, the body felt that music should become an integral part of the convention.  President Ballard appointed Malcolm Taylor chairperson, who along with Matthew Jordan, made the first Chairperson's dream a reality.

The Chorus consists of members from every state unifying their voices to provide spiritual music during the convention.  On a Monday evening in 1971, the first National Musical was presented in Houston, Texas.  Since that momentous occasion, Monday evening at the National Convention has been reserved for the musical.  Members gather on Saturday and Sunday prior to the official opening of the National Convention and  rehearse for hours in preparation for Monday's musical.  They also prepare for other times when they are asked to sing.

The chorus is named "The Henry Ballard Mass Chorus" in honor of our 4th National President.
