Leroy Johnson Building Fund Leroy Johnson served as the sixth National President from 1964-1968. He hailed from California. President Johnson, a man of distinction and honor, prayed for wisdom and strength so that he would be the leader God wanted him to be.
During his administration the National Building Fund was created from proceeds from the National Fashion Show. The committee was established to raise funds for the building of a National Headquarters. It was later named the Leroy Johnson Building Fund during President Raymond A. Smith's tenure. After President Smith's administration the building fund was dormant until its resurrection during the tenure of President Robert B. Sherron.
Presently, the department is very active with the goal that the National United Church Ushers Association of America, Inc. will one day have an Ushers' Home. It was Leroy Johnson who envisioned a National Shirne, a home for the ushers
